It was shocking for many when BlackBerry launched BBM services for other platforms in October. Though many believed that it would be a failure, but in the first week itself the BBM platform got two million new users due to the huge success of the app. The BBM app continued to beat all its rivals according to its app engagement levels. However, soon the app started to sink in the app market but the position may change now as BlackBerry has made available its BBM app for iPad and iPod touch devices too.
The new update to BBM app on iOS now makes it compatible to use with the Wi-Fi only iPad and iPod touch devices. There are no changes to the design of the app as it is just the iOS version of the app which was already being used by users having cellular iPad. Though it is not optimum for tablets and the interface is not appropriate for iPad but for now users will have to satisfy with this version only.
The BBM app for iPad and iPod touch has same set of features as available on android or other iOS devices. Such as invite contacts by Email, tell your friends, quick BBM PIN and barcode share on the social networking sites and apps. Even some of the issues are also fixed in the new update and some performance improvements are done.
Though the BBM account will work on only one device, you cannot share the same account on two devices. BlackBerry has also announced that it will release more updates for adding features like BBM voice, BBM channels, BBM video etc. on the BBM app. You can now directly download BBM app for iPad and iPod touch through the app store available on your iPad and iPod touch device.
